For each scenario below, choose
the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once,
more than once or not at all.
1. A neonate presents at the
A&E with feeding problems. Its anxious mother notices that it salivates
copiously, chokes and coughs with the onset of feeding.
2. Mr. Ray-Ban presents with
episodes of epigastric pain, melaena
and weight loss. He has long-standing peptic ulcer disease which has largely
been unresponsive to treatment.
3. Mr. Sauvignon, an alcoholic,
was brought in after an acute episode of haematemesis.
He is highly anxious but not in pain. On palpation of his abdomen, you find shifting
dullness and hepato-splenomegaly.
4. Mrs. Peterson, a 54 year old
lady, has a history of rheumatoid arthritis. She tells you she has been
suffering from epigastric pain and she has vomited
small amounts of bright red blood. She also complains of painful joints.
5. Mr. Loo presents with a long
history of profound watery diarrhoea. He also complains of lethargy, muscle
weakness, nausea and crampy abdominal pain. Blood
results show hypokalaemia and abnormal blood glucose.
